The absorption spectrum of quantum dots (QDs) varies with materials and sizes covering near-IR to mid-IR. With the amplification of the barristor, IR sensors can detect a broad range of light with very high sensitivity.
Barristor-based IR sensors comprise of graphene, QDs and silicon making the process cheaper than InGaAs with a larger wafer (~1/10 the cost compared to an Avalanche Photodiode).
